From the beginning, The Concept School has relied on the good will of others to help it develop and grow. Thanks to gifts from parents and friends over the years, we have been able to purchase our building and property, buy our first van, pave our driveway and parking lot, build two additions, add a basketball court and walking trail, develop our nature center, upgrade our computers, establish a fund for teacher in-service education, improve our landscaping, and refurbish the interior of the school. In a very real way everyone who has donated to these efforts has become a part owner of our school and a supporter of its mission.
Opportunities for giving, and for the sense of participation that comes with it begin with an Annual Giving campaign. Each fall school families and friends receive a letter describing the focus of the year’s fund raising efforts. The purpose is to supplement the current budget by providing those “extras” which make our school special. Sending a check to the school in response to this appeal has a direct and immediate impact on the educational milieu students and teachers experience.
During the course of each year the school also conducts fund raising events to help supplement student activities. Over the years there have been plant, cookies, pizza, cakes and Wawa hoagie sales, auctions, and flea markets to raise money to defray some of the cost of trips taken by the student body and to bring in visiting artists.
Each May we hold our annual golf outing, sponsored in collaboration with the Herman Goldner Company. Individuals and groups can get involved by helping to sponsor the tournament, by participating in it, or by making donations to it. Please let us know if you or your company would like to be included on our mailing list. Invitations are sent out in early spring.
In addition to the annual giving opportunities outlined above, there are three ongoing programs for giving which prospective donors may select. The Friends of the Founders program is for those who would like to make gifts to a capital development fund for major expansion of the school. The Fund for the Future is for those who would like to contribute to a restricted fund that benefits teachers by subsidizing in-service education and college courses. The Mark Tucker Fund is for those who would like to donate toward an award at graduation given to students who, despite obstacles, have forged a productive path for themselves.
Because The Concept School is a nonprofit 501c(3) organization, gifts to the school are tax-deductible.
