Parent Testimonial

My son arrived at TCS feeling stupid, feeling like an outcast and having been failed by the public school system in every way. TCS has helped him grow into a person who understands and accepts his challenges, knows how to manage them, and most importantly, feels good about himself. He has made friends who accept and appreciate him as is. He will graduate from TCS in June and has already been accepted to college with a scholarship to cover some of his tuition based on his high school GPA. I credit TCS for enabling this accomplishment and believe it would not have happened had he gone to any other school.
TCS teachers and staff are genuinely committed not only to providing a safe, supportive environment for learning but to helping every student reach his or her fullest potential. The educators at TCS are truly gifted, providing not only instruction on core subjects but teaching students how to express the intelligence that can so easily be lost beneath the learning challenges. Somehow they not only help the kids learn, but they help them understand how they learn and to own their challenges so they know how to self-advocate when they go out into the world.
In addition to strong academics, TCS students receive a great deal of opportunity to develop appropriate social skills. Particularly impressive is that when there are tough social situations, even at the upper school level, the staff works with the kids to sort them out. Without exception, every time my son has made me aware of a social issue at school, when I followed up with TCS staff, I found that teachers and staff were already aware and taking action to address the situation.
Being part of the TCS community has been the best thing that ever happened to my son and to our family.
Parent of a Graduating Senior

When our son was transitioning from elementary to middle school we realized we needed to find a smaller, more hands-on environment for him. Large classes intimated him and it was clear to us he would struggle and slip below the radar in the middle school whirlwind.
After extensive research and school visits we settled on The Concept School, at the recommendation of one of his elementary school teachers who had had some experience with the school. We found a caring, engaged teaching staff that tailored the class work to our son’s needs. We also found a willingness to address both social and academic challenges with a flexible approach that again, was customized to our son’s needs. Through it all, the staff and teachers kept us informed and brought us into the picture when we were needed. I simply can’t say enough for the time and investment the school made in our child.

My son has been at The Concept School for the past 4 years and is now happy to go to school. He is learning and growing in a much more nurturing environment now. He has made friends and goes to school happy now. We have seen great changes in him since he started at TCS and are very thankful he is where he needs to be now.

School was a constant frustration for our 4th grade son. We knew that we had to try something new but had reached a wall with our public school. A friend mentioned The Concept School and we figured we had nothing to loose so we checked it out. Two
years later, we know it was the turning point in our son’s education. Concept has been so much more than a school for our child. It has been a place where he can be himself, learn at his pace, be challenged, have his strengths highlighted, his weaknesses supported. It is an environment where he shares his successes with friends and teachers who care. His academics astound us, his experiences are amazing. He loves school, and looks forward to going everyday. parent ask for?
