Shannon Tilmon has been a high school science teacher at The Concept School since September, 2001.  She graduated from Ursuline Academy High School in Wilmington, Delaware, and earned a B.S. and an M.S. in Animal Science from the University of Delaware. Over the years at TCS, Ms. Tilmon has taught Biology, Environmental Science, Anatomy and Physiology, Physical Science, Astronomy, Chemistry, and Geology, as well as electives such as Natural History of Birds, Entomology, Zoology, Botany, Myths and Constellations, and Classic Film.  She is a member of the National Honor Society and serves on TCS’s NHS committee.  She also enjoys helping with the props with the stage crew in the school’s play productions.

During the summers, Ms. Tilmon teaches summer camp with the Delaware Nature Society, both at their Ashland Nature Center and at Coverdale Farm in Hockessin, Delaware.  In her spare time, she enjoys canoeing, bird watching, going for walks outdoors, doing yo-yo tricks, playing the piano, listening to old music, watching old movies and TV shows, and spending time with her family.  Ms. Tilmon loves teaching at The Concept School – it is a special place that catches lightning in a bottle, for kids and teachers alike, and she is very happy to be a part of that.
